HUBCO says its BYD vehicle assembly plant in Pakistan remains on schedule to start operating before the end of 2026. The update was shared at HUBCO’s annual general meeting and cited in a report by Arif Habib Limited; an analyst for the firm estimated the plant could become operational in about four to five weeks.

As production builds, HUBCO is targeting an initial sales pace of around 1,000 to 1,500 BYD vehicles a month. The company plans to add models in stages, choosing future offerings according to the price bands and vehicle categories it sees as having the strongest sales potential.

Early locally assembled vehicles will still rely entirely on imported components and raw materials. HUBCO’s longer-term goal is to raise localization to as much as 80%, but the article stresses that this is not the expected level when production begins. Greater local sourcing could reduce import dependence over time; it does not guarantee immediate price cuts, since exchange rates, taxes, duties and production volumes will also affect prices.

BYD has said the plant will initially be capable of producing 25,000 vehicles a year, with potential expansion to about 50,000. The company has also said the facility could create more than 1,100 jobs and would be its sixth production site outside China.
