Jaecoo Indonesia says its investigation into a Jaecoo J5 incident found that the vehicle struck a curb and roadside barrier before a front wheel detached. The incident drew attention on social media after video showed a wheel and part of the front bumper lying on the road; the nearby barrier also appeared damaged.

According to the company’s technical team, the wheel coming off was a result of the impact, rather than the cause of the incident. Jaecoo said the collision also damaged the vehicle’s right-front bumper, right-front fender and right-front door. Its inspection found no indication that a manufacturing defect caused the event.

The J5 is now being repaired. Jaecoo Indonesia’s aftersales team is coordinating the work and prioritizing parts availability, while the company says it will continue supporting the owner. The report does not provide the incident’s exact location or further details about how the collision occurred.
