FAW-Volkswagen’s Jetta brand has launched the M6, its first battery-electric vehicle, in China’s entry-level EV market. The sedan is offered in three versions: the 465 Pro at 79,800 yuan, the 555 Max at 89,800 yuan and the 555 Ultra at 99,800 yuan. Those launch prices are 1,000 yuan below the entry price announced when pre-sales opened on September 28; the top trim’s price is unchanged.
The M6 uses Jetta’s Jiesi architecture and a dedicated electric platform, with a front-mounted motor driving the front wheels. It is 4,806 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase. The 465 Pro pairs a 42.9-kWh battery with a 113-kW motor for a stated CLTC range of 465 km and a 0–100 km/h time of 8.3 seconds. The two higher trims use a 51.9-kWh battery and 145-kW motor, delivering up to 555 km and a 6.8-second sprint. CALB supplies the lithium iron phosphate batteries; charging from 30% to 80% takes 25 minutes.
Navigation-based driving assistance for city and highway routes is reserved for the 555 Ultra, which uses Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6M chip. The lineup also includes features such as automatic emergency braking, parking assistance, a heat pump and 3.5-kW vehicle-to-load capability. Inside are an 8.88-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch central screen, with support for several Chinese AI assistants and smartphone connectivity systems.
Jetta says launch benefits worth up to 26,000 yuan cover items including warranties, trade-in support and financing, subject to different eligibility terms. The M6 is the brand’s first production EV. Jetta, whose Chengdu-based operating company began work in January, plans five new models by 2028, including four new-energy vehicles, and has set a medium-term annual production and sales goal of 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles.
