The Lepas L6 EV, a new electric SUV from Chery’s Lepas brand, was tested on Chinese roads ahead of its planned late-2026 sale. It uses a platform developed exclusively for Lepas and is positioned against models such as the Skoda Elroq and Kia EV3. Pricing has not yet been announced.
The reviewed Elevate version has a 65kWh battery and a single front-mounted motor producing 215bhp and 275Nm. Lepas quotes a range of 279 miles, 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 111mph. Its 120kW charging rate is said to take the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes. During the test, the car achieved a range around 40 miles below its official figure, though the reviewer noted that warm conditions would have helped.
Comfortable cruising, easy manoeuvring and a spacious, high-quality cabin were among the L6’s strengths. The Elevate adds leather upholstery and an illuminated Sony audio system, while the front seats are heated and ventilated. A responsive 13.2-inch touchscreen is fitted, although its layout and AI-created wallpapers may not suit every European buyer.
The main shortcomings emerged on winding roads: steering feedback is limited, the body leans noticeably in faster corners, and regenerative braking is difficult to modulate. The review also found that the L6’s relaxed ride worked well on smooth Chinese roads, but offered no price comparison yet; its listed UK sale timing is late 2026.
