LEPAS is preparing to enter Chile, while two of its vehicles have been named among the 42 cars eligible for the initial stage of the 2027 World Car of the Year awards. The models are the L8 PHEV and the fully electric L6 EV. Their inclusion puts them into the evaluation process, but does not mean either has reached the finalist stage.

The company says its Chilean offering will cover the L4, L6 and L8 families, with different powertrain options. It has not yet begun official sales in the country, and has provided no local launch date, prices or details of the versions planned for Chile. The L6 EV was launched in Thailand during 2026, while the L8 PHEV debuted in Indonesia; LEPAS is also advancing plans for Europe, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.

The World Car of the Year schedule cited by LEPAS calls for the ten finalists to be announced on January 5, 2027. After the field is narrowed to three candidates, the winner is due to be revealed on March 24 at the New York International Auto Show. Two Chilean jurors will take part in the process.

The 2027 edition will also be the first without a dedicated World Electric Vehicle category. As a result, electric entries such as the L6 EV will compete for the overall awards alongside vehicles with other types of powertrains.
