MG 07 deliveries begin in China after 31,000-plus firm orders in 11 days

SAIC's MG brand began handing over the MG 07 sedan to Chinese customers on September 1, and said firm orders for the model had already climbed past 31,000 units. That tally covers just the first 11 days on sale, counting from the car's August 21 debut.

The launch was exceptionally strong by MG's standards: the order book cleared 10,000 firm orders in 1 minute and 57 seconds on launch night, well ahead of the 39-minute pace set by the MG4. General manager Chen Cui said pre-orders reached 45,000 on day one and 59,000 a day later, with versions offering more than 800 kilometers of CLTC range taking over 45% of the mix — beyond what the brand had projected.

Buyers can choose from seven variants spanning battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The flagship EV sits on an 800-volt architecture with a 91-kWh CATL pack, promising 845 kilometers of CLTC range and 5C fast charging, while the PHEV pairs 245 kilometers of electric-only driving with 1,745 kilometers of total range. The 650-km version started shipping in late August; the 845-km variant follows in October.

The sedan is MG's first model with a LiDAR sensor and the first to run Momenta's R7 world-model driver-assist system, and its cabin is built around an 8295P chip and a 15.6-inch 2.5K screen. To keep up with demand, MG has grown its effective China dealership network from under 200 to nearly 500 locations over the past year and added roughly 100 pop-up stores. The brand also noted that MG4 series sales topped 17,000 units in August.
