SAIC Motor Malaysia plans to launch the locally assembled MG ZS in Malaysia at the end of October 2026. The second-generation SUV was shown at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show in June, and is being prepared in two front-wheel-drive versions: the 1.5 Turbo and the Hybrid+. Both prices are estimates and exclude insurance: RM105,000 for the turbo and RM115,000 for the hybrid. The first 1,000 customers are offered benefits valued at RM3,000 and five years of complimentary servicing.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 170 PS and 275 Nm, with a CVT. In the Hybrid+, a 102 PS, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine works with a three-speed hybrid transmission, a 136 PS electric motor and a 1.83-kWh battery. Combined output is 215 PS and 465 Nm. MG quotes fuel consumption of 6.9 litres per 100 km for the turbo and 4.7 litres per 100 km for the hybrid.
The ZS measures 4,430 mm long and has a 2,610 mm wheelbase. Its boot holds 443 litres, expanding to 1,457 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded. Assembly is in Melaka. Equipment shared by both versions includes a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, twin 12.3-inch displays and a broad driver-assistance package. The Hybrid+ additionally has selectable energy-regeneration settings and a pedestrian warning sound.
