BYD has revealed the interior of its next-generation Tang SUV, which is due to reach the Chinese market by the end of 2026. The pre-production vehicle was shown in August at an exhibition in Chengdu, but its cabin details had only been teased at the time. BYD identifies this Tang as the model’s third generation; the Tang L, also known as the Atto 8 in some export markets, is a separate model.
Buyers will be offered two cabin treatments. One pairs a three-spoke steering wheel with a conventional driver display and beige plastic-and-leather trim. The other has a two-spoke wheel, a slim instrument screen positioned close to the windshield, white upholstery and different air vents. Both versions share a large, single multimedia display. They also have a two-level center console with physical buttons, a wireless charging pad and open cupholders; the simpler version has large buttons at the console’s end, while the white-interior car may get an additional screen there. The SUV will be available with five or seven seats.
The Tang measures 5,045 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall, with a 2,950-mm wheelbase. It has so far been announced as an electric vehicle, with a certified 408-hp motor; its location has not been specified. Preliminary battery options are 88.7 or 105.8 kWh, and BYD has stated a maximum range of 850 km, apparently on the CLTC cycle. The equipment list also includes air suspension and a lidar-equipped driver-assistance system.
