Nio’s flagship ES9 SUV has reached 3,000 cumulative deliveries in Shanghai, the city that hosts the company’s global headquarters. Nio marked the milestone on November 2, 2026, with a customer handover during the Shanghai leg of its Nio Cup National Golf Invitational. The buyer was switching from a traditional luxury combustion-engine vehicle, the company said.
The milestone came after five full months of deliveries. Nio said the ES9 had also led sales in Shanghai among vehicles priced above 500,000 yuan (about $74,470) for four consecutive months. The model debuted on May 27, with deliveries starting the next day, and has a starting price of 498,000 yuan including its battery pack. Shanghai had previously become the first Chinese city where ES9 deliveries passed 1,000, on July 5.
Shanghai is a significant market for Nio: the company recorded 20,736 retail sales there in the first half of 2026, or 10.88% of its China total. Nationally, ES9 deliveries reached 32,203 by the end of September; September’s 7,706 units were its second-highest monthly result since launch. The ES9 and ES8 together made up 85.62% of Nio’s main-brand deliveries that month. The Shanghai milestone comes amid a slowdown in company-wide deliveries: Nio Inc. reported 34,246 vehicles in October, down 15.23% year on year and ending a 31-month growth streak.
