Omoda has presented the X concept in Wuhu, China, offering a preview of the brand’s possible entry into the off-road-oriented 4x4 segment. The vehicle was shown during Chery Group’s annual International User Summit, alongside other upcoming products from Omoda and Jaecoo. Omoda says the concept combines sporty character with the ruggedness of an off-roader, and production is expected as early as 2027.
At around 4.6 meters long, the X adopts a more angular, substantial design than other Omoda models. Its front end has a black strip linking the headlights and a bumper shaped to provide a generous approach angle. Large wheels, pronounced wheel arches and extended plastic body protection reinforce its off-road look. Some European media have cited a ground clearance of 200 mm and a wading depth of up to 700 mm, but those figures are unofficial.
Omoda has confirmed plug-in hybrid power and four-wheel drive, but has not disclosed the system’s specifications or the vehicle’s construction. It remains unclear whether the X will use a separate ladder frame or a unibody platform. The cabin appears closer to production specification, with a digital instrument display, portrait-oriented multimedia screen, multifunction steering wheel and a rotary control for drive modes. The concept’s near-production appearance suggests a more detailed follow-up may come before its anticipated 2027 launch.
