Chery’s Omoda Jaecoo division has introduced the Omoda X in Wuhu, China, at the group’s International User Summit on October 20. The mid-size crossover adopts a more upright, rugged look, with prominent wheel-arch trim, lower-body cladding and angular lighting. Omoda has not confirmed Australian pricing, availability or launch timing, despite previewing the vehicle locally ahead of its unveiling.

The Omoda X measures 4650mm long, 1910mm wide and 1720mm tall, placing it at roughly Toyota RAV4 size and below the Omoda 9 in the brand’s range. It has 200mm of ground clearance and a stated wading depth exceeding 700mm. The display vehicle wore 19-inch wheels with all-terrain tyres. Omoda says the SUV will be available with two- or all-wheel drive and either electric or plug-in hybrid power, but has not yet released full specifications. Claimed towing capacity is up to 1800kg, with a 75kg roof-load limit.

A key equipment feature is an infrared thermal-imaging system that can reportedly detect targets at up to 90 metres. The cabin includes a 10.25-inch instrument display, a 13.2-inch central touchscreen and physical controls, alongside 39 claimed storage spaces. The brand’s next confirmed Australian additions are the Omoda 4 and Omoda 7, expected in the first half of 2027; no Australian launch plan has yet been announced for the X.
