The second-generation BYD Seal 07 has started arriving at dealerships in China ahead of a planned November 5 launch, with customer deliveries expected during November. Dealer billing information reportedly shows a preliminary allocation price of 180,000 yuan (about US$25,250), but BYD has not confirmed the retail price. The model is offered as both a battery-electric sedan and a DM-i plug-in hybrid. The Seal 07 range recorded 624 sales in September: 328 EVs and 296 DM-i hybrids. Month on month, EV sales fell 3.5% and DM-i sales dropped 54.8%. The outgoing EV is priced at 169,900–189,900 yuan, while the current DM-i costs 149,800–186,800 yuan.
The new sedan measures 5,080 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. It is 85 mm longer and 50 mm wider than its predecessor, and its wheelbase grows by 60 mm. The rear trunk holds 618 litres; the EV also has a 160-litre front trunk. The rear-wheel-drive EV uses BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo and is available with 245 kW or 300 kW motors. Its 76.744 kWh and 88.682 kWh LFP Blade batteries are associated with CLTC ranges of 775 km and 875 km, respectively.
BYD says the new Blade Battery supports flash charging, promoting a five-minute charge to a ready-to-drive level and a nine-minute full charge; real-world times depend on conditions. The DM-i pairs a 115 kW 1.5-litre turbo engine with a 160 kW electric motor and a 38.029 kWh battery, rated for 245 km of WLTC electric range. Equipment listings include DiSus-M body control and independent suspension. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is visible, although BYD has not specified the assistance features or trim availability.
