The Aiva ME7, the first production vehicle from Seres-backed brand Aiva, has appeared in China’s 412th batch of new-vehicle regulatory filings, released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Friday. Seres is named as the manufacturer. Such filings are generally a step toward a vehicle going on sale in China, though the filing does not provide a launch date.

The all-electric, fastback-style SUV is listed as a five-seater. It measures 4,999 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,616 mm tall, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. Buyers are expected to have a choice of rear-wheel-drive single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single motor produces up to 270 kW; the dual-motor setup adds a 150 kW front motor for a combined 420 kW. Both versions have a listed top speed of 255 km/h and towing capacity of 700 kg.

Both configurations use ternary lithium-ion batteries supplied by CATL, but the filing does not state battery capacity or driving range. Previous reporting said pre-orders were planned for early 2027. Aiva launched in June and said its vehicles would target a market segment above 200,000 yuan. The brand has also announced a partnership with ByteDance’s Volcano Engine for its Doubao large language model and smart-cockpit technology.

Aiva operates under Saidou Technology, in which Seres holds a 32.96% stake; CATL holds 9.89%. Seres is expected to provide manufacturing and engineering support, with the ME7 slated for production at its Phoenix factory. Earlier reports also said Aiva was discussing access to CATL’s battery-swapping network.
