Sunwoda EVB, the electric-vehicle battery arm of Chinese supplier Sunwoda, presented a 15C smart flash-charging battery system at an industry conference in Zaozhuang, Shandong province, on September 17. Data shown at the event put charging from 10 to 70 percent at five minutes and a run from 10 to 97 percent at nine minutes under room-temperature conditions, with one minute on a charger adding roughly 100 kilometers of range. The pack is claimed to support driving ranges beyond 700 km, and even at minus 20°C it completes the same 10-to-97-percent cycle in 15 minutes.
To counter concerns that extreme charging rates degrade battery health, Sunwoda is backing the system with a 10-year or 300,000-kilometer warranty and no cap on fast-charging sessions for privately used vehicles. Its smart layer — third-generation smart cells, an energy domain controller and an AI cloud-control platform — is said to predict more than 20 fault types two to ten days in advance with 99.77 percent accuracy.
Infrastructure is part of the pitch. Sunwoda also introduced an open platform combining solar generation, stationary storage and megawatt-level charging hardware that works with vehicles from multiple brands, and it aims for an ecosystem of 10,000 megawatt charging stations by the end of 2027. The company withheld station locations, investment figures, the first vehicles to carry the battery and a mass-production timeline.
The move lands in a crowded field. BYD's second-generation Blade Battery matched the same room-temperature charging benchmarks when it debuted in March, and BYD has since passed 10,000 flash-charging stations on the way to a 20,000 target for end-2026. Hongqi, Dongfeng and Xpeng have all recently shown fast-charging batteries or megawatt chargers, including Xpeng's first X-Energy megawatt station, which opened in Hong Kong on September 15.
