BYD’s second-generation Seagull has arrived at dealerships in China for display ahead of its domestic launch. The showcased car is orange, one of six listed colors, and has black 16-inch wheels, semi-hidden door handles and a floating-roof design. Notably, the display vehicle has no roof-mounted LiDAR, although the model is announced with DiPilot 300 driver assistance, a system associated with LiDAR and Navigate on Autopilot functions.

The cabin shown has white trim, a two-spoke steering wheel and a gear selector behind the wheel. Rather than a separate instrument display, the left section of the central screen serves that role. The center console includes a wireless phone charger, physical controls and two cup holders; the car also has an electrically powered front trunk.

The new Seagull measures 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm high, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. It is 425 mm longer than the current model. A rear-mounted electric motor produces 95 kW (127 hp), and buyers will have 30 kWh and 39.2 kWh battery options. The stated CLTC ranges are 320–420 km, equivalent to 262–344 km under WLTP. BYD says flash charging can take the battery from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.

Pre-orders opened on October 9 with a 2,000-yuan deposit, refundable before the order is locked. BYD has not disclosed the new car’s price; the source expects it to be below 100,000 yuan. The current Seagull costs 69,900–85,900 yuan and recorded 74,087 deliveries from January through August 2026, a 66.5% decline.
