Xpeng Mona L05 SUV caught on camera in China ahead of worldwide rollout

Fresh spy shots from Autohome show the Mona L05, a mid-size five-seater SUV that will slot in as the third offering of Xpeng's budget-oriented Mona family, joining the M03 sedan and the recently launched L03 crossover. The car stretches 4,870 mm with a 2,940 mm wheelbase and is planned in both BEV and EREV versions. The test vehicle seen in the wild features a blanked-off front fascia with Y-shaped lamps, a sloped hood, semi-concealed door handles, a floating roof look, 20-inch wheels, yellow calipers, privacy glass at the rear, and front-fender cameras for blind-spot monitoring. The cabin follows a stripped-back theme with a single large display, an oval two-spoke steering wheel with the shifter mounted on the column, and a curved console holding a wireless charging pad and cupholders.

Homologation data already spells out the hardware. The pure-electric variant runs a 183 kW (245 hp) rear motor off a 71.1 kWh LFP pack, good for 615 to 660 km of CLTC range depending on trim. The range-extender keeps the same motor and adds a 70 kW (94 hp) 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, with a smaller 37.2 kWh battery covering 237 to 253 km electric-only. Xpeng has been taking the Mona nameplate abroad — the L03 debuted in China and overseas markets simultaneously at 123,800 to 156,800 yuan (18,405 to 23,310 USD) — and the L05 is widely expected to follow suit. The international push comes as the brand's global sales slipped 15.8 percent year over year to 165,977 units in the first half of 2026, per China EV DataTracker.
