Xpeng has begun handing over its Mona L05 SUV to customers in China, setting a goal of delivering 10,000 units during the model’s first month. At a ceremony for the first owners on November 4, chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said deliveries were gathering pace. The L05 is intended to support Xpeng’s fourth-quarter sales drive.
The model opened for sale in China on October 29. Its limited-time entry price is 139,800 yuan ($20,820), while the stated price range is 144,800 to 176,800 yuan. Xpeng said 5,000 near-ready vehicles sold out soon after pricing was announced. The company has assigned the L05 a separate production line, saying its output and deliveries will not disrupt production of the Mona L03.
The five-seat, mid-size SUV measures 4,870 mm long and has a 2,940 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose a battery-electric version, rated for up to 635 km of CLTC range, or an extended-range version with up to 1,310 km of combined CLTC range and 310 km on battery power alone. Xpeng also reports a 15.8-minute charge from 30% to 80% for the BEV and a quickest 0–100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds.
Xpeng says the L05 has been adapted for 82 countries and regions and began global shipments on October 26, with sales planned in 65. Overseas delivery dates have not been announced. Xpeng delivered 50,237 vehicles in October, a monthly record; the company has said it aims to exceed 60,000 monthly sales in the fourth quarter as new models including the L05 arrive.
