BAIC plans to introduce the B30 in Brazil between March and April 2027, making it the Chinese automaker’s first hybrid in the country. Known as the BJ30 in other markets, the midsize SUV is expected to launch with a full-hybrid system that does not require external charging.

The cabin’s equipment includes a 14.6-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel. All three seats across the front and rear can recline fully. The SUV measures 4.73 metres long, 1.91 metres wide and 1.75 metres tall, with a 2.82-metre wheelbase and a 450-litre boot. Its monocoque construction contrasts with its rugged styling, and the Brazilian report identifies the Jetour T1 as a potential rival.

The planned powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, rated at 158 hp and 30.5 kgfm, with two electric motors: 177 hp at the front and 75 hp at the rear. BAIC cites 409 hp as the total installed output, but has not provided a combined system rating. A two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and 1.67-kWh NMC battery are specified; the claimed 0–100 km/h time is 6.9 seconds.

BAIC is also developing a hybrid system compatible with flex fuel in partnership with Bosch. The project is with the company’s engineering department, but details of the flex-fuel powertrain have not been disclosed. The technology is expected to be ready in 2027, with the ethanol-capable B30 anticipated around mid-2028 after the necessary homologation.
