A Vietnamese driver who switched from a VinFast VF 6 to a BYD Seal has shared impressions from two weeks and nearly 800 km behind the wheel. The Seal is the owner’s first electric sedan; the appeal of a lower-bodied car and its sportier driving feel helped motivate the change. The VF 6 costs substantially less, while the Seal’s listed prices in Vietnam range from VND 1.119 billion to VND 1.359 billion.

The owner said the Seal felt agile and smooth to drive, without feeling cumbersome. Its 120 mm ground clearance gives it a very different character from the higher-riding VF 6. The experience also challenged the driver’s previous assumptions about the quality of Chinese cars.

Charging has been the main drawback. Leaving VinFast’s network means relying on third-party charging providers, often with a separate app and advance payment for each service. The owner said their phone now has 10 to 13 charging-related apps. Hanoi has many charging points, but availability is thinner in provinces such as Lang Son. The driver also found few third-party chargers at northern highway rest stops, while VinFast stations are widespread.

The owner described this access issue as a difficulty for electric cars outside the VinFast brand, including American and European models. The account concludes with advice on who may prefer staying with VinFast and who could consider a Chinese EV, but the detailed recommendations are presented in the accompanying video.
