Chery-Huawei's Luxeed R7 Coupe Crossover Freshens Up With New Cabin, Stronger Base EV

Luxeed, the brand Chery runs jointly with Huawei under the HIMA alliance, has previewed a facelifted R7 coupe-style crossover. The five-door, which arrived in 2024 as the marque's second model and first SUV, keeps its silhouette intact for the 2027 model year, and order books are expected to open before the month is out. Its dimensions carry over: 4982 mm long, 1981 mm wide, up to 1650 mm tall, with a 2950 mm wheelbase, while the lidar-based driver assistance stays put.

Outside changes are subtle. The frameless doors now wear semi-recessed handles in place of the previous pop-out units, and two fresh paint shades join the palette. The real work happened inside, where a redesigned dashboard brings vertical air vents, a smaller instrument screen sunk into the panel rather than perched on top, and a replacement for the familiar 16.1-inch central tablet: a two-panel display made up of 17.2-inch screens. The fridge hidden in the center console remains but now slides out.

Mechanically, details are still thin, though the entry rear-drive EV gains a 309-hp rear motor, up from the 292 hp of the outgoing car. For reference, the pre-facelift range spanned a 1.5-liter turbo hybrid with up to 520 hp and EVs with up to 496 hp riding on 82 or 100 kWh batteries.
