Chery plans to bring its Q compact electric car to Germany at a later, unspecified date, adding a fully electric model to its European lineup. The car measures 4.19 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.56 metres tall, with a 2.70-metre wheelbase. Chery says the wheels are positioned near the corners to help create a spacious cabin.
Inside, the Q has 38 storage areas, an intelligent cockpit and driver-assistance features. Luggage capacity is 375 litres in the rear, with a further 70-litre storage compartment under the front hood. Chery has not provided a driving-range figure.
The rear-mounted motor produces about 89 kW (121 hp) and drives the rear wheels. The car has independent suspension at both axles and a stated 50:50 axle-load distribution. Its turning radius is around five metres. A 41 kWh battery is claimed to charge from 30 to 80 percent in less than 17 minutes using a rapid charger. Vehicle-to-load functionality can also power external electrical devices. Chery has not announced German pricing, and the company’s Germany chief described the model as an example of its focus on everyday usability, safety and comfort.
