Chery has revealed the Tiggo X7, a more rugged-looking addition to its Tiggo SUV family. The five-seat model sits below the seven-seat Tiggo 8 and is positioned as a tougher alternative to the Tiggo 7. Its boxier exterior features body cladding, a distinctive front grille, recovery-hook-style details and C-shaped rear lights. Inside, it shares the facelifted Tiggo 7’s touchscreen and digital instruments.

Chery says the X7 will have raised ground clearance, off-road tyres and six terrain-focused drive modes. The modes named in the report include Snow, Mud, Sand, Rocks and Water Wading. Its maximum towing capacity is 1,500kg, 200kg below that of the related Omoda X; the Omoda is also claimed to wade through up to 700mm of water.

The X7’s powertrains have not been confirmed. It may use the Tiggo 7’s 145bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid system with an 18.4kWh battery, but these remain expectations rather than announced specifications. Chery has also yet to set a price or confirm a UK launch. The article expects it to cost more than the Tiggo 7, whose current UK starting price is £24,995, before an anticipated price increase.
