In Pakistan this week the news clustered at two ends of the price range: premium electric SUVs priced at Rs 20 million and above, and compact EVs and range-extender SUVs whose rivals are still waiting on price announcements. Much of it came out of the PakWheels New Wheels Expo in Karachi.

Premium EVs get prices

Master Changan Motors set Pakistan prices for the Avatr 07 and 11: the 07 runs Rs 20 million (Max RWD) and Rs 22 million (Ultra AWD), and the 11 runs Rs 27 million to Rs 29 million, the top price being the four-seat AWD Royal Edition. Bookings need Rs 4 million for the 07 and Rs 6 million for the 11. Two PakWheels comparisons followed the same week: the Avatr 11 Royal Edition against the Zeekr 7X (Rs 29 million against Rs 26.99 million) and the Avatr 07 Ultra against the XPeng L03, where the XPeng is listed at Rs 12.2 million ex-factory and the comparison had no confirmed Avatr price. A third set the Avatr 07 against the BMW iX3.

Arcfox arrives, mostly without prices

Sazgar showcased the Arcfox T1 hatchback at the Karachi expo on October 3, with LV2 and LV3 versions coming but no price, booking amount or delivery date. The T5 REEV was introduced in Pro and Max variants with a 1,060-km claimed combined range, also without pricing. The T5 Apex does have a listed price of PKR 10,495,000, which framed two comparisons: against the Deepal S05 REEV at PKR 9,999,000, and against the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV at PKR 10,999,000. For the T1, the Chery Q comparison notes that only the Chery, at Rs 5,554,000, has reached the market, so buyers cannot yet compare value.

Volume and financing

Changan added a Black Edition to the Oshan X7, saying the model has passed 22,000 sales and is the best-selling seven-seat SUV in Pakistan, as Master Changan marks ten years in the country. Capital Smart Motors introduced 12-month, zero-markup financing for the Forthing Friday: half upfront, the rest in 12 installments, promoted from PKR 5 million with no stated end date.

What it means

  • Pricing is the open question: the Arcfox T1 cannot be weighed against the Chery Q until Sazgar gives a price.
  • Around PKR 10 million, the Deepal S05 REEV, Arcfox T5 REEV and Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV are listed within PKR 1 million of each other (9.999 to 10.999 million).
  • At the top end, Avatr has put the Rs 20-29 million bracket on the table, against a Zeekr 7X at Rs 26.99 million.
