BYD's premium marque Denza staged the Thai debut of its Z9GT flagship shooting brake in Bangkok on September 16, an event that also marked the first local availability of the group's flash charging technology and second-generation Blade Battery. The car carries a Thai price tag of 2,999,900 baht, roughly $89,870.
The event featured a live flash-charging demonstration led by BYD Thailand general manager Ke Yubin, with charging progress displayed on screen, while a professional driving team put on a drifting show to highlight the handling enabled by the car's e3 technology. Liu Xueliang, a BYD vice president who also runs the Asia-Pacific auto sales division, said Denza now operates in 13 Asia-Pacific markets, adding that BYD installed its 10,000th flash-charging station in China in August and intends to keep pushing the technology worldwide.
Thailand is familiar ground for the brand: Denza announced its entry in November 2024, opening with the D9 MPV as its fourth Asia-Pacific market after Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore. The Z9GT has already reached Europe and Malaysia — Denza unveiled it in Paris in April alongside the D9 DM-i. In China, the refreshed Z9GT went on sale March 5 with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions, the EV variants offering up to 1,036 km of CLTC range, and a new e3 tri-motor electric variant added September 9 can go from 10 to 70 percent charge in five minutes.
The Thai push rests on BYD's local scale: cumulative deliveries in the country hit 130,000 units in July, when the Rayong plant marked its second anniversary. The facility, in production since July 2024 with designed annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, has also begun exporting cars to Europe.
