Yangwang, BYD’s luxury brand, has released an initial teaser for the Altior, a large electric sedan expected to make its international debut in the United Arab Emirates around November 5, 2026, possibly in Dubai. The model was previously known by the codename HU and is expected to be sold in China as Dingyao. BYD is positioning it against top-tier luxury sedans, including the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Mercedes models, as it seeks to build its presence in the Middle East.
Chinese reports put the Altior at about 5,500 mm long, with a 3,350 mm wheelbase. Images circulating in China show a prominent front end, a roof-mounted lidar sensor and rear-hinged back doors, a first for a BYD Group vehicle. The cabin has not been shown in detail. Four electric motors—one at each wheel—and hydraulic suspension have been reported, but neither the power output nor the technical specifications have been confirmed.
The most notable possibility is a solid-state battery. BYD executives have pointed to 2027 for the technology’s first vehicle applications, while wider adoption is expected only after 2030. The company has not confirmed that the Altior will be the first model to use it. Pricing is also unannounced; reports indicate a starting point near 2 million yuan, or about €260,000. The sedan would sit above the Yangwang U7, U8 and U9 in the brand’s range.
