Denza launched its Z9GT flagship grand tourer in Hong Kong on October 23, bringing BYD’s flash-charging technology to the brand’s first overseas market. The model is priced at HK$998,000 (about US$127,240) and is the first luxury vehicle in Hong Kong equipped with the technology and BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. BYD vice president Liu Xueliang led the launch, which drew about 250 guests and media representatives to an offshore platform.

The Hong Kong Z9GT produces up to 850 kW (1,140 hp) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. It uses a 1,000-volt electrical architecture and BYD’s e3 tri-motor system, which allows the rear wheels to steer independently. Denza says charging takes five minutes to go from 10% to 70%, or nine minutes to reach 97%; the company has previously specified that these figures apply under those respective battery-charge conditions.

Its equipment and powertrain match the e3 flash-charging version sold in mainland China, where that variant costs 369,800 yuan (about US$55,060). The Hong Kong price is roughly 2.3 times as high. In March, the Z9GT became the first production model delivered in mainland China with the second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging; Denza added a lower-priced battery-electric variant in September.

Denza entered Hong Kong in 2024 with the D9 MPV. The Z9GT has also reached Europe, Malaysia and Thailand, and the company has said it is present in 13 Asia-Pacific markets. BYD plans to expand flash charging internationally.
