Denza has postponed the Australian launch of its Z9 GT electric shooting brake until the first half of 2027. The brand had previously targeted the third quarter of 2026, but told local media it was balancing priorities across its expanding BYD and Denza ranges and did not want to launch the car simply to meet a date. Australian pricing has not been announced.
The Z9 GT is positioned as a premium electric wagon and a potential rival to the Porsche Taycan. Its all-wheel-drive version has three motors producing 850kW combined, drawing power from a 122.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Denza quotes a 0–100km/h time of 2.7 seconds and a 1,036km range on the more generous CLTC test cycle. The car is also specified for DC charging at up to 1,500kW and uses BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 technology. A single-motor, 370kW version sold in China has not been confirmed for Australia.
Denza says it could also consider an Australian plug-in hybrid version if customers want one. The company has only recently begun local deliveries of its B5 and B8 plug-in hybrid SUVs and D9 electric people mover; the N9 SUV has received Australian design-rule certification, but has no announced launch date. The Z9 GT will join the Zeekr 7GT and Exlantix ES GT among electric sports wagons expected in Australia. In the UK, the electric Denza starts at £107,340, while Australian pricing remains unknown.
