Denza puts a 130 kWh pack into the N8L SUV — from 299,800 yuan with 960 km of range

BYD's premium marque Denza has added a pure-electric derivative to the N8L SUV range, which keeps the plug-in hybrid on sale alongside it. Two grades are on offer: the entry version starts at 299,800 yuan (USD 44,100) and the flagship at 329,800 yuan (USD 48,600). Notably, the EV undercuts its hybrid sibling's 319,800-yuan entry price by 20,000 yuan despite carrying the larger energy pack.

Power comes from a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery rated at 960 km on the CLTC cycle (778 km WLTP). The identical pack yields only 850 km in the four-wheel-drive BYD Great Tang, while the Denza N8 extracts 1,003 km from it. Sitting on an 800V platform, the N8L EV can take its battery from 10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes. The launch version uses a single rear motor producing 370 kW (496 hp).

Measuring 5,200 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall on a 3,075 mm wheelbase, the SUV seats six in a 2+2+2 layout with standalone second-row seats and a third row that slides fore and aft. Styling cues include a sealed-off front end, a roof-mounted LiDAR unit and three exclusive launch colours: Golden Black, Winter Green and Sunset Ink.

On the tech front, the car runs the "God's Eye" 5.0 driving-assistance suite — one LiDAR, five millimetre-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and twelve cameras — covering highway and urban navigation assist plus all-scenario automated parking. The six-screen cabin spans an instrument cluster, centre display, passenger and rear entertainment screens, an AR-HUD and a streaming rear-view mirror, and it debuts BYD's DiClaw AI agent for multi-step voice commands such as itinerary planning and smart-home control. A 208-litre powered front trunk with a drain valve rounds things off — it can even be rinsed out with water.
