Dongfeng 008 Gears Up for Its UAE Debut

The brand's local arm has teased the six-seat range-extender SUV, but launch timing and pricing are still under wraps.

Dongfeng's official UAE social channel has started teasing the 008, signaling that the family SUV is bound for the Emirates in the near future. No on-sale date or prices have been shared so far, and market-specific details on trims, equipment, and costs are expected to follow. Local importer Mahi Khouri Motors currently offers the 007, Mega, Hugh, and Z9; the 008 has yet to appear on the brand's UAE website.

Egypt, where the model has already launched, offers a preview of its hardware. There, the 008 uses an extended-range (REEV) setup that pairs a rear-driving electric motor with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine acting purely as a generator. Output stands at 272 hp and 340 Nm, drawn from a 34.32 kWh battery good for up to 150 km of electric range on the WLTC cycle (210 km CLTC) and a claimed 1,300 km combined. Fast charging can replenish the pack in roughly 15 minutes.

At 5.002 meters long with a 3.025-meter wheelbase, the six-seater rides on 21-inch wheels and arrives generously equipped, with a 15.6-inch central display, 540-degree camera, ADAS suite, panoramic roof, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, an in-cabin fridge, and a 20-speaker sound system.

Dongfeng has not confirmed whether the UAE car will carry the same specification as the Egyptian version. It enters a fiercely contested family-SUV segment where Chinese and international models alike keep multiplying, so its prospects will hinge largely on the final local pricing.
