Dongfeng is preparing to enter Brazil’s passenger-car market under the DFM name, with the Box compact and Vigo SUV as its first two electric models. The company says presales of the Box should begin soon, but has not announced prices, delivery dates or Brazilian-market specifications for either vehicle. Power, range and battery capacity remain undisclosed.
DFM says the Box and Vigo target segments that together account for more than 80% of Brazilian EV demand, though it did not provide details of the estimate. The proposed warranty covers vehicles for seven years and batteries for ten years; coverage terms and mileage limits have not been specified. The brand’s initial retail network is planned to include 60 dealerships across 48 cities in 22 states.
The company has signed agreements with 32 dealer groups, and some outlets are under construction. São Paulo is set to have 16 locations, while Rio de Janeiro will have five; Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo are each slated for two. DFM aims to grow the network to 145 sales points in 2027. Dongfeng, founded in 1969, says it has sold more than 62 million vehicles and operates in over 100 countries and regions. Its group also includes premium brand Voyah and luxury off-road electrified marque MHero.
