Dongfeng’s M-Hero brand introduced the X700 in China on October 25, pitching the boxy plug-in hybrid SUV for light outdoor use and off-road driving. It is offered in four configurations priced from 147,500 yuan (about US$22,000) to 187,700 yuan (about US$28,000). The lineup includes a 325km RWD Pro at 147,500 yuan, two 285km 4WD versions at 160,700 and 174,000 yuan, and a 360km 4WD Ultra at 187,700 yuan.

The X700 measures 5,035mm long, 1,999mm wide and 1,890mm or 1,910mm tall, with a 2,920mm wheelbase. Its stated off-road figures include a 37.5-degree approach angle, a 38.3-degree departure angle, up to 328.8mm of ground clearance and an 800mm wading depth. Dongfeng highlights the model as the M-Hero range’s first SUV with unibody construction; earlier models used body-on-frame designs.

Huawei technology features prominently inside and in the driver-assistance suite. The HarmonySpace 6 cockpit has two 15.6-inch 2.5K screens and a 74-inch augmented-reality head-up display. Huawei ADS 5 uses 27 sensors, including LiDAR, and adds off-road and roaming cruise-assistance functions.

A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 113kW works with front and rear motors rated at 190kW and 215kW. The four-wheel-drive system is claimed to reach 100km/h from rest in 4.93 seconds. CATL supplies the LFP batteries: a 51.46kWh pack for 285km of CLTC range or a 68.10kWh pack for 360km. Its suspension combines double wishbones up front, a five-link rear setup, magnetic dampers and air springs, with 150mm of height adjustment. Dongfeng identifies BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao Ti 7 as a rival.
