Freelander 8 starts China deliveries September 19 after 5,000-order launch

Chery Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the Freelander 8 will reach its first Chinese customers on September 19, roughly two weeks after the extended-range SUV went on sale on September 3. Demand has been brisk, with more than 5,000 firm orders logged within the first 12 hours. Promotional pricing currently spans 289,900 to 379,900 yuan (about 42,600–55,900 USD).

The model carries a boxy "square box" look inspired by the Concept 97 and measures 5,118 mm long on a 3,040 mm wheelbase. Every trim gets a roof-mounted LiDAR and Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5.0 driver-assistance system running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip, while the jointly developed i-ATS all-terrain setup offers 20 terrain modes plus front, centre and rear locking differentials.

Inside are a 46.3-inch panoramic display, a 15.6-inch center touchscreen, and a second row with two zero-gravity seats, folding tables and a refrigerator. The 800V EREV platform combines a 60.3 kWh CATL ternary battery (310 km CLTC electric range) with a 1.5T range extender and dual motors producing a combined 610 kW (818 hp), enabling 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Standard rear-wheel steering keeps the turning radius under 5.15 meters.
