GAC has launched the GS4 Max in Chile, expanding its midsize SUV lineup with two front-wheel-drive powertrains. The third-generation model is sold through local distributor Gildemeister and is available at dealerships across the country, from Iquique to Castro. Prices start at CLP 15,490,000 when purchased with financing.
The gasoline version uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 174 hp and 270 Nm, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic. Its certified combined fuel consumption is 13.4 km/l. A new conventional hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor for 232 hp combined; it has a 2.1 kWh battery and a two-speed hybrid transmission. GAC quotes 17.86 km/l on the WLTC cycle and a maximum combined range of 1,071 km for the hybrid.
The 4,685 mm-long SUV seats five and has a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Its cargo area holds 638 liters, expanding to 1,560 liters with the rear seats folded. Standard equipment includes a panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both powertrains also get eight airbags and driver-assistance features including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance. The hybrid is GAC’s latest addition to its Chilean range of electrified vehicles.
