Geely is readying a flagship version of the crossover known in China as the Xingyue L and exported as the Monjaro. The Plus variant cleared certification with China's industry ministry back in August, was shown to local journalists and bloggers in early September, and has now been the subject of another wave of official imagery ahead of a home-market launch expected soon.
The Plus differentiates itself with bespoke bumpers, reworked side panels and rear pillars, a grille with chunkier vertical slats, and headlamps that sit clear of the grille. Notably, earlier previews leaned on a two-tone finish and retro-styled wheels, while the latest cars wear plain paint and conventional rims. Reserved for this version are a panoramic roof, power-operated side steps and a lidar sensor above the windshield for automated driving.
At 4955 mm long, 1960 mm wide and riding a 2900 mm wheelbase, the flagship is significantly bigger than the regular Xingyue L. The cabin gets a single floating widescreen like the Galaxy M9's, a new instrument display, two wireless charging pads, a ceiling screen for rear passengers, a 23-speaker sound system and trim mixing suede, leather and wood.
Geely has so far only announced an i-HEV hybrid combining a 218-hp 2.0 turbo with electrification it has yet to detail, while ministry filings also reveal a 290-hp 2.0 petrol version. Chinese media add that air suspension, rear-wheel steering and a crab-walk driving mode are on the cards.
