GWM has begun selling the H7 in Mexico, adding a mid-size electrified SUV to its local lineup. Although the model belongs to the Haval family and is known in China as the Raptor Hi4, it will be marketed in Mexico as the GWM H7. Buyers can choose between a conventional hybrid (HEV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), both in Luxury trim. Prices start at MXN 779,900 for the HEV and rise to MXN 859,900 for the PHEV.
The H7 measures 4,800 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,843 mm high, with a 2,738 mm wheelbase. Its cabin seats five. Listed equipment includes a panoramic roof, LED lighting, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 15.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker audio system and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include six airbags and driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection and forward-collision alerts.
Both versions use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a four-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and all-wheel drive. The HEV pairs a 1.53-kWh battery with 244 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque; GWM quotes a range of 946 km and fuel economy of up to 17.2 km/l. The PHEV has a 27.5-kWh battery and produces 359 hp, while torque remains 560 lb-ft. It can travel up to 135 km on electric power, and its battery is reported to charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. GWM also lists a 962-km range on one tank and fuel economy of 17.5 km/l for the PHEV.
The two variants differ in some cabin and parking equipment: the PHEV adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and has 12 parking sensors rather than eight. Despite its rugged styling and all-wheel drive, the H7 does not have a transfer case, so the source cautions that it is not intended as a serious off-roader.
