GWM began taking reservations for the Haval H7 in Brazil on October 5, introducing the Chinese brand’s new plug-in hybrid SUV to the market. Existing customers have priority during the first stage, with bookings due to open to the general public on October 7. GWM has not yet announced the Brazilian price and plans to disclose it on that date.
The H7 is positioned between the Haval H6 and H9. Its squared-off styling and prominent wheel arches suggest an off-road focus, but it uses a monocoque body and the H6’s platform, with MacPherson front and multilink rear suspension. The SUV measures 4.78 metres long, 1.95 metres wide and 1.84 metres tall, with a 2.74-metre wheelbase. It is 17 centimetres shorter than the H9 and weighs about 2,100 kilograms. The Brazil-approved version is expected to seat five; reported luggage capacity is 586 litres.
GWM has confirmed a 1.5-litre turbocharged flex-fuel engine producing 150 hp and 24.4 kgfm, paired with a plug-in hybrid system, but has not detailed the full Brazilian specification. If it follows the China-market setup, two electric motors—one on each axle—would provide all-wheel drive and contribute to a combined 364 hp and 77.5 kgfm. The manufacturer quotes a 0–100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds for that configuration. The article notes that a setup based on the Haval H6 PHEV35 could instead use a four-speed transmission and deliver 65.5 kgfm.
