Chery’s Omoda brand has introduced the Omoda X in Wuhu, China, at an event held alongside the 2026 Chery International User Summit. The crossover is the production-minded realization of the T1QC preview shown during Auto China in April, and is described as Omoda’s first off-road-oriented model. Its design uses the brand’s new Crossvolution theme, with angular lighting, pronounced wheel arches and a sloping roofline.
The Omoda X measures 4,654 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,702 mm tall, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. Omoda also cited 200 mm of ground clearance, a 700 mm water-wading depth and a towing capacity of 1,800 kg. The exterior is offered with a Progloss Plus Clearcoat finish, which the brand says is designed to resist scratches and repair minor surface damage.
The cabin features a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, plus a thermal-imaging system with a stated recognition range of up to 90 metres. Other details shown include a physical control knob, toggle switches and an Open Mic karaoke function. Omoda says the model will be available as a battery-electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid and a conventional hybrid. Reported battery capacities are 74 kWh for the BEV and 20 kWh for the PHEV, but full specifications have not been released.
The debut presentation did not give a production start date, and the article says it is not yet clear whether the Omoda X will be sold in Malaysia.
