Stelato, a luxury marque created by Huawei and BAIC, has introduced its first SUV, the G9, in China. The 5.2-metre-long electric SUV offers optional camper equipment integrated into its design: a powered pop-up roof with sleeping space for two, a kitchen built into the tailgate and an electrically deployed side awning. When folded, the roof sits flush with the body. The bed has an 80 mm padded surface and is rated to support up to 260 kg.

The tailgate kitchen uses a folding table fitted with an electric cooktop, an extendable temperature-controlled tap and storage shelves. Other equipment includes a rear cabin refrigerator that can cool or warm items, plus vehicle-to-load power with an external 6 kW outlet. The G9 measures 2.05 metres wide, with a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 metres. It has all-wheel drive and is rated at 586 hp; buyers can choose a battery-electric version or an extended-range variant, which uses a gasoline engine as a generator. The latter is quoted at up to 1,366 km of range on China’s CLTC cycle with the larger battery.

Prices run from 429,800 to 549,800 yuan, equivalent in the source to about €57,394–€73,419. The pop-up bed costs €2,644, the kitchen just over €1,000 and the awning €665 at the stated exchange rates. Adding all three to the least expensive version brings the price to about €61,703. The article compares that with a well-equipped Volkswagen California Beach Camper starting at €62,000, without the bed roof included as standard.
