Volkswagen's Xpeng-linked ID. Aura T6 opens Chinese presales from $20,225

FAW-Volkswagen has started taking pre-orders for the ID. Aura T6, a mid-size electric SUV priced from 135,900 yuan (roughly 20,225 USD). The five-seater stretches 4.81 meters and is built on the CEA platform that Volkswagen developed jointly with Xpeng. A single rear motor producing 170 kW (228 hp) drives the car, with 59.9 kWh or 77.5 kWh LFP packs delivering 540–660 km of CLTC range; the entry version covers 0–100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.

The lineup runs through four grades, capping at 169,900 yuan for the 660 Ultra LiDAR. Upper trims gain a roof-mounted LiDAR and an assisted-driving setup built on Horizon Robotics' Journey 6H chip (420 TOPS) that handles both highway and urban navigation assistance. The cabin pairs a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 25.8-inch AR head-up unit, alongside 18 speakers and heated, ventilated and massaged front seats. Practicality figures include a 576-liter trunk expanding to 1,796 liters with the rear bench folded, plus a 90-liter compartment under the front hood. The presale arrives at a tough moment for the brand: Volkswagen's China deliveries fell 40.33% year-over-year in July 2026 to 87,099 units.
