Xpeng Mona L05 spied on Chinese roads ahead of late-2026 global debut

Spy shots of the Xpeng Mona L05 have emerged while the new electric SUV runs road tests in China. Xpeng is targeting a debut before the end of 2026, and the five-seat midsize model — roughly 4.8 meters long — will become the third member of the Mona family, following the M03 sedan and the L03 crossover, and the largest of the lineup. The company plans to offer it in China and overseas markets alike.

Figures from the model's MIIT filing put it at 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,636 mm tall, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase. The styling sticks to Mona family cues: a sealed-off front fascia, Y-shaped LED headlamps and a low, sloping hood, along with semi-concealed door handles, a floating roof, a full-width rear light bar and 20-inch alloy wheels. The light-green test car also featured privacy glass, yellow brake calipers and blind-spot cameras mounted on the front fenders.

Inside, the cabin keeps things minimal in the same vein as the L03, with a large central touchscreen, touch-adjustable air vents, a two-spoke oval steering wheel with the gear selector on a stalk behind it, open console storage, dual cupholders and a wireless phone charging pad.

The BEV variant uses a single rear motor rated at 245 hp, drawing from a 71.1 kWh LFP battery for a CLTC range of roughly 615-660 km depending on trim. The EREV keeps that motor and adds a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 94 hp purely as a generator; with its 37.2 kWh LFP pack it can cover about 237-253 km on electricity alone. Given that the L03 launched simultaneously at home and abroad with Chinese prices of 123,800-156,800 yuan, the L05 looks likely to follow a similar export path soon after launch.
