Xpeng officially launched the G9L, its new five-seat flagship SUV, in China on Thursday with six variants spanning battery-electric and extended-range powertrains. Guide prices span 241,800 to 319,800 yuan, but a limited-time promotion brings the entry point down to 231,800 yuan (US$34,300) — 28,000 yuan, or roughly 10.8 percent, below the 259,800 yuan starting figure from the August 11 pre-sale.

The G9L sits alongside the six-seat GX launched in May on a shared core platform, and CEO He Xiaopeng said it was engineered to flagship "9-series" standards. Measuring 5,120 mm long with a 3,100 mm wheelbase, the SUV leans hard into rear-passenger comfort: both rows get zero-gravity seats that recline together into a flat resting surface over 1.8 meters long, while rear occupants also receive a 21.4-inch entertainment screen, a 12.5-liter dual-zone refrigerator, and a console integrating tray tables and wireless charging.

BEV versions cover 660 to 755 km on the CLTC cycle, with all-wheel-drive variants reaching 100 km/h from rest in 4.45 seconds. The two EREV trims pair a 1.5-liter turbo range extender with a 63.3-kWh pack, delivering 435 km electric-only and 1,602 km combined per CLTC. Every variant carries an 800-volt platform with 5C charging — 10 to 80 percent in as little as 11 minutes — plus dual-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering.

The launch is central to Xpeng's year-end push: management is targeting more than 60,000 monthly sales in Q4, about 53 percent above August's 39,107 deliveries, with the Mona L05 also due to arrive. Abroad, right-hand-drive G9Ls built in Guangzhou are headed to Australia as part of a planned roll-out across 64 countries and regions.
