Yangwang caught testing a Phantom-style flagship saloon and a Cullinan-style SUV

Fresh spy shots from China suggest Yangwang, BYD's ultra-luxury arm, has two new flagship models in the works — and both take clear styling cues from Rolls-Royce. The first is a long-wheelbase saloon whose proportions closely mirror the Phantom. Door-handle placement reveals rear-hinged coach doors, and the car rides on wheels styled after Maybach's. A canister under the rear bumper points to BYD's DiSus-A air suspension retuned for a larger, plusher vehicle, while a metal roof in place of panoramic glass hints at a rigidity-first design. Chinese reports also predict a pillar-less body for easier cabin access.

The second catch is an SUV photographed during hot-weather testing in Turpan. Rather than the U8's boxy off-roader stance, it adopts a lower, sleeker side profile akin to the Cullinan and wears low-profile rubber instead of all-terrain tyres, suggesting road-focused dynamics — though it's unclear whether adjustable ride height explains its low parked posture. A single roof-mounted LiDAR is visible, and the DiPilot 600 ("God's Eye") assisted-driving suite is expected, minus the two extra LiDARs found on some models. Its powertrain remains unknown, but a switch from the U8's four-motor e⁴ setup to the e³ platform, which keeps a mechanical link to the front axle, could cut fuel consumption at sustained highway speeds.

If both reach production, they would become Yangwang's new halo cars, likely offered as plug-in hybrids and pure EVs in line with Chinese luxury NEV practice. Volume is beside the point for the marque, which delivered just 442 vehicles in China in August 2026 — a small figure, but one that still marked steady year-on-year growth.
