BYD supplied most of Indonesia's Chinese-car news this week: a revised price list, production figures from its local plant, and the first moves of its premium brand under a new name.

Prices move up

BYD's Indonesian website showed revised prices for several models in October. The largest change is the Seal Premium Extended Range, now Rp869 million, about Rp230 million more than the Rp639 million recorded in August. The M6 Superior versions are each Rp12 million higher, and the Atto 1 Dynamic rose Rp5 million to Rp210 million; the Atto 1 still starts at Rp199 million. The Sealion 7 is now listed only as an Extended version at Rp879 million, where it had previously started from Rp629 million. See BYD.

The report records the changes; it does not give BYD's explanation for them.

The Subang plant

BYD's factory in Subang has produced 24,877 vehicles in five months of operation, according to figures compiled by the industry association Gaikindo. It began in April 2026 with 198 vehicles that month, and output had risen to 9,736 units by August.

Danza, formerly Denza

The trademark dispute behind the rename was covered last week. What is new: the Danza models appear in the 2026 vehicle-tax schedule with lower listed values than the matching Denza versions. Those are official taxable values, not confirmed retail prices. BYD's spokesman confirmed the new name but did not directly answer whether it was connected to the trademark case.

The brand is already looking ahead: Danza teased a "new" D9 and what appears to be the Z9 GT on its official account, without details. See Denza.

What it means

  • If you were quoted a BYD price in August, check it again: several models have changed, the Seal by a wide margin.
  • Lower taxable values for Danza models may affect annual tax, but they are not retail prices.
  • BYD's local production is rising quickly, and its list prices went up in the same period. The reports do not connect the two. More at Chinese cars in Indonesia.
