Omoda Jaecoo has begun testing the Omoda 4 in Brazil, where lightly camouflaged—or nearly uncovered—examples have been seen on the road in Santa Isabel, São Paulo state. The sightings indicate that preparations for local homologation are under way, but the SUV is not expected to reach Brazilian showrooms until the second half of 2027, probably by August. That is a delay from the previously indicated target of the final quarter of 2026.
The model is expected to arrive without a flex-fuel hybrid setup, despite the company’s broader work on an engine capable of running on ethanol. The likely initial configuration pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor, a dedicated 1DHT hybrid transmission and a 1.83-kWh LiFePO4 battery. This is the full-hybrid arrangement already used by the Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 5. Its stated combined output is 224 hp and 30.1 kgfm of torque. Chery executives had also raised the possibility of a conventional combustion-only version as a less expensive option, but no such variant is confirmed.
The Omoda 4 measures 4.40 meters long. Its size is closer to the latest Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta, while it is somewhat larger than the Honda HR-V and Volkswagen T-Cross. The cabin has a raised center console and two displays: a rectangular instrument screen and a larger, vertically oriented multimedia screen.
