Vietnam's week combined an awards show that Chinese brands used as a sales platform with a round of October price cuts. The largest cut was VND 144 million on the Jaecoo J5, and Wuling set a date for its seven-seat Darion.

Car Choice Awards 2026: BYD and Omoda & Jaecoo collect votes

At the Car Choice Awards, BYD's M6 received 83,940 votes, the highest total of any model, and BYD says nearly 3,000 M6 units have been distributed nationwide at VND 756 million. The Jaecoo J5 won the new-model equipment award, and Omoda & Jaecoo's C5 SHS-H launch event was named a top-five automotive event. At the VIMS showcase, which registered more than 2,000 test drives over two days, Lynk & Co's 02 and 900 drew attention. These are awards and attendance figures, not sales results.

Next launch

Wuling confirmed the Darion for October 16. A dealer has suggested a price above VND 700 million; the final price is not announced, and the model has already reached dealerships, where staff have reportedly taken deposits since mid-August.

What it means

  • Discounting is spread across Chinese brands rather than confined to one. Where list prices are being cut by VND 100 million or more, buyers are the beneficiary this month.
  • Local assembly is part of the Jaecoo story: its price cut comes from a model built in Vietnam.
